Lost Senses, More Innocence
by Nodes of Ranvier
The other day I went with Galen to the Hylton Memorial Chapel to see Mark Lowry, LordSong, and Stan Whitmire. I didn't really want to go because I don't like Southern Gospel music. I would have much rather have gone to Fredericksburg to see Parkway Drive, Stick to Your Guns, Mychildren Mybride, and Advent but Galen said he would pay for my ticket to the Mark Lowry show. Free is always good for this poor college kid and I didn't really have the money for the other, much better show. The best part of the concert was when Mark Lowry did some stand-up comedy stuff. Other than that I didn't really like it. So after the concert Galen was hungry. He said let's go to McDonald's. I'm was thinking yuck but who was I to say where we eat because I was just the tag-along. So he ordered us both 2 cheeseburgers. After eating those little pieces of fat I felt sick to the stomach when I got home. I am taking a Nutrition and Menu Planning class and we had just recently watched Supersize Me in class so I know what is them cheeseburgers. Fat, sodium (salt), and cholesterol. That's pretty much it. Fast food in and of itself is not bad food. What's bad about it though is that it is loaded with fat, sodium, and cholesterol. So that is why I felt sick after eating those cheeseburgers. I don't usually eat fast food because it is rather disgusting. There is so much better food available. My body is not used to having that much bad stuff in there all at one time. I felt like Morgan Spurlock when he said in Supersize Me while eating a double quarter-pounder supersize meal, "See, now's the time of the meal when you start getting the McStomach ache. You start getting the McTummy. You get the McGurgles in there. You get the McBrick, then you get the McStomach ache. Right now I've got some McGas that's rockin'. My arms... I feel like I've got some McSweats goin'. My arms got the McTwitches going in here from all the sugar that's going in my body right now. I'm feeling a little McCrazy...I'm dying. God, that looks so nasty. It's making me puke."
There is this woman in my Hospitality Supervision class who is a manger at a Firehook Bakery. She loves to bring food in to class. Last week she brought in some sort of desert that she had gotten at Cheeseburger in Paradise there in Woodbridge. And she brought in some scones from her bakery. I'm not really hungry in class because I usually eat before I leave for school. But this woman pretty much forces me to eat the food. She begs and begs. It's really annoying. So I eat the food. The next morning I wokee up at 3:30am with chills and a fever. I thought I had the swine flu or something. I was sick all that day. I really wasn't too much worries about the swine flu, but Dad really was. So he took me to the doctor's office. Turns out I had food poisoning. Nobody else in my family got food poisoning. Ahaa! I think I got it from the food in class.
Tonight the woman brought in cheesecake because one of our classmate's birthday was today. She said to me, "Eat a big piece." I got a little piece. Hahaha! She also gave me a big chocolate covered coconut macaroon to eat. I ate the cheesecake but could only eat about half of the macaroon. Those things are disgusting. For one thing, I don't really like coconut. For another thing, coconut is loaded with saturated fat. Saturated fat is really bad for you. Then the other people in the class were hungry so we ordered pizza. Of course they said to me, "Eat. Eat." So I end up eating two pieces. Oh, and I drank a Monster Energy because I was rather tired after having worked three days in a row. A while later I started feeling sick...and I know why. All that stuff I ate was fattening. So from now on I won't eat food like that. Only healthy food for me, please and thank you. Besides the fact that junk food, fast food, etc... isn't good for me and makes me fat, it makes me sick. No more. No more eating that woman's food in class either. Thankfully the class is soon over. We take the final next week. Woohoo!
